George's 3rd Birthday

George is 3!! This blows my mind, because for some reason his birth seems as recent to me as Peter's. George is such a special little boy! The past few months have been somewhat hard as he's really stepped into toddlerhood and all of the difficulties that come with it. But we would't trade him for anything! Even on the hard days, he makes us laugh and melts our hearts with his big brown eyes.

We started George's birthday with presents! We gave him a marble run that is built with Duplo blocks, a PlayDoh construction set, the game "Don't Wake Daddy",  a kid's Bluetooth speaker with a microphone, and an ice cream counter!

It's hard to say what his favorite gift was, but this is definitely up there. I knew our musically inclined boy would love it!
Henry and Claire were just as excited about presents as George was. I ended up keeping Claire and George home from school that morning because they were having so much fun playing that we just keep the party going.
George asked for cinnamon rolls for breakfast and loved blowing out the candles. We sang Happy Birthday to him, and he was so cute; he sang the whole song with us, even "Happy Birthday, dear Georgie..." 😂😍
We had beef nachos for dinner, which is one of George's favorites (with lots of sour cream! :)) We didn't have cake because I was making one 2 days later for his party, but we had some birthday cake ice cream in the freezer and Publix sugar cookies. We let George pick a movie (Paddington 2!)  to watch after dinner while we ate ice cream. It was a great day for him!

We had a small party the following Saturday with family and a few friends. George wanted a construction party, so that's what we had!

Our friend Brandon works as a sales rep for Caterpillar construction equipment, so we asked if he would take Caleb and the boys to see some of it the morning of the party. He so sweetly agreed, even letting George drive some of the equipment! George is still talking about the "'struction 'hicle trucks" daily. Haha!

We planned his party for after nap time, and I made a cake and set up a "trail mix bar" which I had seen online. It was SO easy, but so fun! Definitely something I'll do again at future parties.
Popcorn, Goldfish, pretzels, peanuts, raisins, Fruit Loops, Cookie Crisp cereal, M&M's, and mini marshmallows. Yum! The kids loved making their plates of trail mix.

We thankfully had good weather, so the kids ran around outside and played the whole time. We sang to George, ate cake, and opened presents, and then everyone started heading home. We asked the couple friends that we invited not to bring gifts, but George got lots of nice things from grandparents and aunts/uncles; Duplos, a Stomp Rocket, a Hot Wheels track and cars, a sleeping bag like his big siblings have, a Buzz Lightyear costume, and a shirt with a backhoe on it.
George was so sweet while we sang to him. He was looking around at everyone, smiling and laughing. You could tell he felt really loved!

We love George so much and look forward to watching him grow into the person God made him to be!
