Frannie

Today I'm going to shine the spotlight on Frannie, our first kitty, and tell the story of how she came to be ours. She was a rescue from the pound and will be 6 years old this winter. Just take a look at this picutre:

This was her in the pound! Oh my goodness, I've looked at this picture a thousand times and it gets me EVERY TIME.

In the fall of 2011, my friend Mandee's dog went missing, and every day for several months, she and her mom, Patty, went to the pound searching for her. Tragically, the dog was never found, but I like to think that some good came out of the situation because it brought us Frannie! Well one day while at the pound, Patty suggested looking at the kittens and maybe picking one to keep as an outdoor cat for pest control. Well lo and behold, this little kitty was in the cage staring straight at them with those sad eyes and they KNEW that they had to rescue her. The only problem was that Patty's husband is allergic to cats, and this cat was far too beautiful to be kept outside. So Mandee (who is also mildly allergic to cats) took her home with the intent of giving her to a friend. Through a chain of several events, the friend ended up not being able to adopt her, and Caleb and I volunteered. Frannie became our kitty the summer of 2012, right after we got married!

I cannot explain what she brings to our lives and our home. She is the smartest, sassiest, cuddliest kitty ever, and she always keeps us on our toes (not always in a good way!). She will be destroying our couch one minute and then on my lap, climbing my chest to get as close as she possibly can the next. She's hard to stay mad at for long because she's just so darn funny. One time Caleb kept spraying her in the face with water because she wouldn't stop scratching the furniture and the next time he called her name, she turned and looked at him with her eyes squinted, cause she was so used to getting sprayed! HAHA. She'll lay on her back in the hallway or in a doorway and she'll roly-poly around and grab at us when we try to walk by. She is CRAZY, but in the best possible way!

One of Frannie's quirks is that she LOVES shoes. There have been many times where we've caught her licking one of our shoes with her paws wrapped around it. She scratched up a pair of Caleb's one time so we try to keep them closed up, but if she can, she loves to snuggle a shoe.

She's not spoiled at all :)

That's our Frannie girl! We just love this kitty to pieces! Next time, a post dedicated to our other cat, Louie. :)
