Texas Trip--Days 3 & 4

Monday was our last day in San Antonio, and we filled it with the perfect mix of planned activities, spontaneous stops along the way, and down time 😊.

I got up during the night to use the bathroom, and saw this when I got back in bed. I love that squishy baby face! Also that he was on Caleb's side of the bed. 😜

We ate cereal in our room for breakfast...

...and then headed across the street to the Alamo! This was our view from our hotel window. The Alamo was directly behind that tree straight ahead, and only a few yards from our hotel!

We bought audio guides, but Caleb and I had a really hard time listening because Henry had a HUGE MELTDOWN while we were inside. He was bored and wanted out of his stroller to walk around, and who can blame him?? We ended up giving him a bottle of water which he poured all over himself, hence why he's wearing different clothes in the rest of the pictures. 😜

We ate lunch at my favorite Texas establishment (I ate it a total of 4 times! 🙈😂), and then started walking toward our next stop, Historic Market Square. We came across a really nice park with a playground on the way, and stopped for a while to let Henry run around and burn off some energy. The hope was that he would sleep in the stroller for a while, but we learned that this little dude doesn't fall asleep just anywhere when he's tired, which makes for a long day and a cranky baby!

We made it to Market Square! This is a really beautiful, festive area with several Mexican restaurants and the largest Mexican market in the U.S. We all had a great time perusing the shops and finding all sorts of treasures.

The shops were jam packed with all sorts of Mexican wares; clothing, pottery, jewelry, food...it was amazing! Crowded, colorful, junky stores draw me in like a moth to a flame, so I was totally in my element here! 😂

Henry found a cup and ball that he wanted, and it actually kept us all entertained for days. Haha!

Authentic Mexican churros dipped in honey...yum!

We walked back to our hotel to rest for about an hour. We were trying to find something to do that was 1) kid friendly, 2) cheap/free, 3) within a one mile radius from our hotel since we didn't have a car. Shelby came through for us and found the COOLEST park that was like a 10 minute walk from our hotel. Unfortunately Henry chose this time to fall asleep in the stroller, but we were just so glad that he got some sleep!

We plopped down in the shade and let Henry sleep while we watched people playing on the splash pad.

Caleb had the most fun climbing a big rope dome and taking pictures from up high. The playground was seriously one of the neatest I've seen, and if it hadn't been scorching hot, we would have stayed longer. Henry woke up right when we were about to leave, so we stayed for a few more minutes to let him play.

Then it was time to head to dinner! We went back over to Market Square to eat at Mi Tierra, an iconic Mexican restaurant and bakery that I'd heard a lot about. We didn't take any pictures because Henry had his second meltdown of the day, and dinner wasn't that pleasant because of it. (FYI, these huge meltdowns are going to become a daily occurrence from here on out. Get ready!). Caleb absolutely loved his food, and declared the salsa the best he's ever had. I ended up leaving the table a little early with Henry just because he was having such a hard time. We went back to our hotel and we had a pizza delivered for Henry and me because we hadn't eaten much at dinner. We got packed up and set our alarms early for the next morning...it was time to leave San Antonio and head to Dallas!

We dropped our luggage off at the front desk, grabbed breakfast at McDonalds, and headed to pick up our rental car. We ended up having a fiasco with the car that set us back 2 hours, but we did eventually pick up our bags and hit the road. We stopped for lunch at Freddy's Steakburgers, and then Henry napped in the car while we drove.

Waco is on the way from San Antonio to Dallas, so of course we had to stop at Magnolia!

We looked around the store, and then relaxed outside under a pavilion with giant snow cones! It was seriously the best snow cone EVER! Henry made a huge mess, but thoroughly enjoyed himself. Haha!

We drove the remaining hour and a half to Irving, a suburb right outside of Dallas where we'd rented an Air BnB for the next few nights. We found a really yummy brick oven pizza restaurant for dinner.
This picture is blurry, but at least we were all smiles! :)

After dinner we headed back to the house to get ready for bed. Shelby had to fly home the next day (😥), but Caleb, Henry, and I were resting up for our first day in Dallas!
