Fourth of July Fun!

We had a fun-filled festive Fourth of July with family (sorry, I'm an English major...couldn't resist the alliteration! 😉) A day off together is just what we needed!

We started the morning going out to Meridianville to pick blueberries. We went to Mullins Orchard and had a really nice time! (I'll be blogging about our Blueberries for Sal family book day later this week, and I'll include more pictures!)

We picked up Chick-fil-A for lunch on our way home, and after the babies napped, it was time to go to Derek and Tracy's house for a cookout and fireworks! They moved into a new house outside of the city limits at the end of last summer, so this was our first 4th of July to be able to go out there and legally do some fireworks. Haha! My family came over too and we had pulled pork, hotdogs, hamburgers, and everything you could ever want to go with them!

This picture of Henry, Evelyn, and Caroline is my new favorite! They are such beautiful and sweet kids!

I brought supplies to do a festive little craft after dinner while we were waiting for the sun to set a little. The kids had a great time using toilet paper rolls to "stamp" fireworks, and their pictures turned out really cute!

Some storm clouds started rolling in, so we went out front and started our fireworks. We had some of the cutesy kids stuff, and of course pop-its, sparklers...

 ...and smoke bombs!

Looking back through these photos, I realize we didn't get any pictures with my dad. :( He was there too, but he sat in a rocker on the porch while we did fireworks! It was such a great night with family, and watching the kids join in the traditions of celebrating our country is just so fun! Next year Claire and Shepherd will be toddling around too...I can't wait!
