Easter 2023

Easter 2023 was really special! We started a new tradition, had multiple egg hunts, and spent time with family. Lots of good memories made!

We attended Rivertree's Easter egg hunt for the first time and had so much fun! There were crafts, snow cones, food, animals, prizes...it was awesome!

We also started a new Good Friday tradition this year and it was SO SWEET. Truly a night that I have thought about all year long, and that I'm looking forward to doing again next year. I was thinking about ways to make Easter meaningful for the kids and to help connect them to the Easter story, and came up with the idea of doing a foot washing ceremony followed by a "disciples meal". Full disclosure; this is very much inspired by the "shepherd's meal" that Sally Clarkson's family does at Christmas time. πŸ˜‚ We read the Scripture where Jesus washes his disciples feet and talked about the significance of that as Caleb washed our kids feet...
...and then we ate a special meal by candlelight. We had fish, roasted potatoes and green beans, naan bread, and grape juice. :) This was my version of an ancient Middle Eastern meal. Ha! We set the table beautifully and ate off of fancier dishes than we normally do. It was so nice!
I wanted to make something using honey for dessert, but this was planned at the last minute and so I did a Target pickup for honey buns instead. πŸ˜‰

Dinner by candlelight was pure magic! After eating, we went through our resurrection eggs and read the Easter story in the Bible.

On Saturday night, we made resurrection rolls to bake in the morning. They were so yummy, and the kids thought it was neat that the marshmallow disappeared from inside. A good illustration of Jesus in the tomb!

We gave the kids their Easter baskets on Sunday morning. They each got a new water bottle, goggles, pool toys, water misting fans, watercolor paint books and some candy. Henry and Claire also got new summer pajamas.
Caleb took this picture of Claire and it made us laugh SO HARD. Wearing her new nightgown and goggles, while using her fan. She is such a goofball!
All ready for church! These kids are just too beautiful for words! 😍

We went to church and then I served in the nursery. While I was there, Caleb took the kids to his Mom's house where they had their first Easter egg hunt of the day!

Love this family of mine! Our last Easter as a family of 5.

My family came to our house after naps for an Easter egg hunt and dinner. And this is the only photo I took! 😜

This was such a sweet Easter season, and I'm looking forward to next year, when Peter will join in our celebrations. :)
