11 Things About Our 11 Month Old

When Henry was 11 months old, I did an "11 Things About Our 11 Month Old" post (you can read it HERE!) and I knew I had to do one for Claire! I've looked back at that post a couple different times to kind of see how similar or different Claire is to Henry at this age, and it's been a fun point of reference. Our girl is full of personality at this age, and coming up with 11 unique things about her was so fun!

-MESSY EATER-
Claire makes such a mess when she eats, particularly by rubbing food into her hair. On this morning, she had a whole chunk of banana stuck to her head. πŸ˜‚ Almost all of her clothes are stained, and if I had the energy to undress her before every meal, I would be better off on laundry day! 😜

-MESSY DRINKER-
Number 1 leads me to number 2; Claire is a messy drinker! She thinks it's funny to fill her mouth with water and then open it and let water run down her chin and onto her clothes. πŸ˜‘ If she has her sippy cup in the car, she will without a doubt be soaked when we arrive at our destination....so she doesn't get her cup in the car anymore. Ha!

-SPRINKLES-
My parents gave Claire the softest little puppy dog for Christmas and its name is Sprinkles. She sleeps with it in her bed, and when we go to get in her the morning we'll say "Claire, where's Sprinkles??" and she picks it up and shows us. It's SO SWEET!

-TEETH-
Claire cut her 2 bottom center teeth a couple months ago, but all of her other chompers have been MIA. Well that's about to change because Claire is finally about to have her 2 front teeth! One has broken through the gum, and you can see the outline of the other one. I can't wait to see Claire with a toothy grin!

-FIRST WORDS-
Claire has started saying a few words! She says "p-boo" when playing peek-a-boo, she says "uh-oh" when she drops something (or sometimes before she drops it πŸ˜‚), and then sometimes she says "hi" and "bye" while waving. She's said "dada" and "mama", and she'll say "woof-woof" when you ask her what a dog says. We can't wait to hear what she will have to say!

-HUMAN GARBAGE DISPOSAL-
We have joked that Claire doesn't have taste buds, but now we're really starting to wonder. The girl will eat anything and everything like it's the best thing in the world. She loves beans, vegetables (including grilled onions, which is so weird), fruit, rice, pasta, meat...she eats anything, cooked any way. The only foods that we've found that she doesn't eat ravenously is avocado and yogurt...but she'll still eat a little. Henry ate a lot at this age (a lot more than he does now!), but not as much as she does. We're hoping she'll always be a good eater!

-NOSY, BUT FRIENDLY NEIGHBOR-
This is one of the funniest things about Claire's personality to me...she is such a little busy body! She always wants to know what we're doing or looking at or playing with, and she notices every little move we make. They've told us at the church nursery that she is so interested in the other kids, even though most of the kids their age don't notice each other. They think she's just friendly, but we know the real reason...she's nosy! πŸ˜‚ (Although I've got to say, she comes by it honestly. πŸ™‹)

-HANDS FREE-
I mentioned this in my Three Things post a few weeks ago, but Claire stands up on her own all the time! She claps her hands and hits her chest, and is just so proud of herself! We expect her to start walking on her own any time, which brings me to my next point...

-WALKER-
...Claire is walking with a walker! She got this baby stroller/walker for Christmas and she loves it so much! She puts things in the seat (like Sprinkles), and then pushes it around and it's THE CUTEST! So far we've found a doll, a shoe, a clothespin, and a soccer ball in the seat. πŸ˜‚

-1st HOSPITAL  VISIT-
Our poor baby has been so sick in 2020! She's had Hand, Foot, & Mouth, RSV, and Adenovirus, and it's been rough! She is still an angel and has handled it all really well, but she landed in the Pediatric ER the other day due to some really labored breathing. They gave her some fluids and a breathing treatment, and that's where we found out about the Adenovirus. She's much better after a lot of sleep and Motrin, and we are so thankful!

-OUTDOOR ENTHUSIAST-
Claire has had a taste of the great outdoors, and she's never going back! She loves being outside! She likes stroller rides, crawling through the grass, swinging and sliding...all of it! I can't wait until she can walk and then going outside won't get her hands and knees so dirty. :) Caleb took the kids to the backyard the other day, but the grass was too wet to put Claire down. Henry wanted to play, so Caleb put Claire in the house and she laid down in front of the screen door and sobbed like her heart was broken. He started opening the door and she sat up and stopped crying, then he closed it again and back down she went. Haha! We were laughing so hard, and of course he took her back out because how could he not?!

This baby...she is an absolute DELIGHT! I love her more than I could ever say, and I can't wait to watch her continue to grow!
